What if?

Spinning around and around, my mind can go faster than Jimmy Johnson around any NASCAR track.  Unfortunately, trophies do not line my cabinets for the dizzying speeds at which my thoughts can go in the middle of the night.  Have the “What ifs” of life ever taken control of your brain?  Perhaps like me you began to think about your aging parents and as they face health concerns you imagine every possible worse case scenario.  As a parent if something goes wrong with your child you began to wonder if you have ruined them for life.  You cannot even begin to speak the ridiculous notions you entertained because they are to scary.   Worrisome pondering appears to be more real in the middle of the night.

Honestly, I wish I could tell you that I wrestled with the “What If” thinking in my past and that my mind never grows weary from emotional roller coaster rides.  But I can tell you I have learned to recognize my thought processes and what I do to keep my brain from running an all night marathon.  Your mind does not have to stay stuck on repeat like a scratched record, because you get to choose what you think about.  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Jesus invites us to bring it all to Him.  Become aware of your thought process and turn it all over to Jesus.

In this New Year lets make the commitment to spend time in God’s Word listening to His voice.
