When life doesn’t make sense and you cannot fix it.

When life doesn’t make sense, and you cannot fix it, what can you do?

Today, we woke up to the horrifying news of what happened in Los Vegas.  As we try and wrap our minds around this tragedy, we want to offer solutions on how to prevent this from happening ever again.  Right now, the people of Los Vegas, need our prayers and our support, they do not need us arguing about solutions.

Lives have been forever changed, and the depth of their grief is unmeasurable.

We can stand with clenched fists and shake them in anger, but instead let us kneel before God the Father and ask for His mercy to pour out upon Los Vegas, the United States, and the World.

God’s mercy is His loving-kindness towards us; it is unending.  He is there in the midst of heartache and suffering beyond our comprehension.

How do we pray?

We can offer this simple prayer:

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
    for in you my soul takes refuge;
in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge,
    till the storms of destruction pass by. Psalm 57:1

God is our refuge in the storms of life.  We NEVER face them alone, because He never leaves our side.

When we do not know what to say, or our grief can only come out as tears instead of words, the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf.

Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.  And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27

Focus on who God is and what He has done and will continue to do for His people.

In closing, this song has brought a lot of comfort to me today, and I pray you will be comforted as well.
